One of the biggest barriers to achieving fitness goals is time. Many parents struggle to find the time to train around work and family commitments. They often resort to training extremely early in the morning or very late at night. Not only does this affect sleep and recovery time which will impact performance, but it may not be safe to train alone at these hours.
As a dedicated marathoner, and ultra marathoner, I fully understand that most training plans, whether cardio or resistance focused, require a minimum of three training sessions a week, often a lot more. This is a huge commitment and often the first debilitating barrier.
But what if the plan was split between train alone sessions and train with the children?

Sharlene is absolutely amazing, I've never been one for gym's as I can feel self conscious and clueless but work outs in Sharlene's home gym are comfortable and a safe space. I love the fact that my plans are tailored around my family - its not just my personal goals but a life style change that encompasses my daughter and my husband, all cheering each other on and joining in. Sharlene keeps in touch regularly and knows how to encourage and motivate as well as tailor things very specifically around my medical health. I cannot recommend Sharlene and FitFam Personal Training enough. My son has been working with Sharlene for just over 6 months and the change in him is amazing. He has lost weight, has toned up, has improved co ordination and balance, has improved mental health and wellbeing and most importantly he has gone from an insecure young man to a confident teen. Previously his free time was spent gaming now he is out playing sport, hanging out with friends and living his best life.
I used to think a personal trainer for a child was not necessary and a bit excessive but I was wrong it has truly been life changing for my son and I have a happy, healthy teen who is unrecognisable to the person he was before.

It turns out personal training isn’t scary after all! I go to FitFam sessions with my children (8 and 5). We all love them! They’re very accessible with no experience needed - a perfect combination of fun, exercise and family time! Sharlene’s also been on some runs with me to help me recover from a knee injury. My warm-up, warm-down and running form are so much better now. And it’s just been great to have such a positive person in my corner 💪 I highly recommend Sharlene for both the family sessions and 1-1 training. You don’t need to be a gym-goer or anything, she meets you where you are and is such a positive and supportive person to be around.

Sharlene is an excellent trainer who is encouraging & friendly. She motivates you to do your best but also makes sure you don't over stretch & cause an injury. She takes time show & explain the exercise while also helping you improve your technique.
I've been going to her senior sessions since the middle of January and I'm really enjoying them. I find they've improved my posture & mobility while being in a fun friendly environment.

We first started with Sharlene after being advised to look at training for our son who has joint Hypermobility. His strength and balance has come on brilliantly and he's no longer complaining of bone and joint pain like he used to. He's also now running so much better - something that was important to him. He does both rugby and Latin/ballroom dance, and core strength and fitness is vital for him. And he's improved significantly since starting with Sharlene. Fully recommend.
The joy of crossing the finish line, with my children enthusiastically cheering me on, witnessing the sheer delight on their faces, and listening to their anecdotes about the ways they contributed to my success in earning a medal, is an indescribable delight. Their pride in me is matched only by their pride in themselves. We accomplished this triumph as a united team!
